Rules and Expectations
  1. Follow all Penns Valley Area School District rules and guidelines.
  2. Follow coaches directives and accept coaches decisions at all times (Ignoring or not following staffs directives is perceived as a violation of the rules) Example of a directive: Coach states the proper dress for matches.
  3. Show and demonstrate respect for all. (This includes but is not limited to: peers, coaches, opponents, themselves, teachers, officials, family members, Penns Valley Area School District personnel and the community. This also covers appropriate language.) In the event an athlete recieves a detention referral for any reason, the coaching staff can, at anytime, begin the termination process or hand down further consequences.
  4. Be on time and prepared/ Attend all meetings and practices-(It is the responsibilty of the athlete or parent/guardian to inform a member of the appropriate coaching staff if he or their son is unable to attend practice for any reason. If the athlete does not do so, he will be given one warning and the guardian will be notified. Upon the second infraction, the student will be suspended for one competition, but will be permitted to practice along with the guardian being notified once again. If there is a third incident, the athlete will be terminated from the team.) If an athlete misses practice due to illness, it is required that a parent/guardian verify this by way of documentation. (Note sent with the wrestler the following day(s). Also, the appropriate coach must be informed if he is unable to attend prior to practice. If a wrestler happens to become injured and is unable to attend regular practices, he is still required to report to the wrestling area and wait for further information at the beginning of practice. In the event of a wrestler that has missed practices due to injury the coaching staff, along with the information obtained from the trainer, will make the decision of whether or not the athlete is adequately prepared for competition.
  5. Cell phone use will not be permitted inside the locker room or on the way to competions, unless permission is grantedby a member of the coaching staff. If at any time over the course of the year the coaching staff feels as though any of the rules or expectations are not being met the following procedure will follow:
    1. 1. A coach or coaching staff will address the issue with the athlete in private
    2. 2. If the athlete continues to demonstrate disregard for the rules or expectations the coaching staff will address the issue once again with the athlete and the guardian will be notified of the situation.
    3. 3. Dismissal of the team.
